Effectiveness is not enough. Say no to magical solutions that promise you to solve your dog’s behaviour without working on it. We’ll help you to make your life easier respecting your dog’s well-being using long-lasting fear and force free methods.
When I, Patricia, first started my career in Brazil, training was based on dominance and punishment. For the first 3 months I used those tools, but I always felt uncomfortable doing it. So I decided to study in the UK to learn more and broaden my views.
When studying behavioural science, I realised how much those techniques affect our dogs. In the past 7 years, I focused on getting practical results while respecting dogs’ welfare using the behaviour science principles. I’m passionate about cooperative care and using consent in training.
In Positive Dog we follow guidelines from ABTC and follow the standard of the profession. We don’t use punishment in our practices or any equipment that can suppress behaviour, hurt or make your dog fearful. Our behaviour modification plans are focused on positive reinforcement, minimising stress and increasing wellbeing.
We’re science based trainers and behaviourists which means to say that we collect data to analyse to understand fully the behaviour. We focus on tracking the training process as well to make sure we’re having the results we want.
We work on vet referrals and side by side with vets on behaviour consultations. This makes this process smoother for all involved and avoids resurgence of behaviour (aka hit and miss training). Those effective methods will help you to achieve your goals, build a healthy relationship with your dog and set boundaries.
